Louise Thaxton from Fairway is signing a check going to a Veteran at an AWI eventA Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in League City, Texas partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to support an organization helping veterans. Along with making a donation, the Fairway branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.

The honoree at the event was U.S. Navy veteran Charles Beverland, who is the CEO and founder of the Galveston County Amputee Alliance, which helps provide custom prosthetics to veterans who are facing or have faced an amputation surgery. Fairway and AWI donated $15,000 to this amazing organization.

Branch manager Jason Holter loved being part of this event. He said:

“The event was amazing. So many people came to learn about and support a common cause that is often overlooked. I appreciate the amount of energy it took to make the event a success.”

Branch manager Steve Curtis was excited to participate and see how a great event like this can bring the community together. He said:

“The money we raised from this event will give 10-15 veterans the prosthetics that they can’t currently afford. What other company brings our community together for a purpose like that? It really gives our real estate partners a good look at who we are on the inside!”

Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.

I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, please give me a call.
